Lady Gaga's Drink of Choice: Tea

Lady Gaga's Drink of Choice: Tea

The singer recently banned booze in her dressing room in favor of tea (plus Gaga-inspired tea bags!)

The coolest way to drink tea: with a Lady Gaga teabag.

Gaga has put down the Jameson and picked up a tea cup instead. New reports show that the head of the world's "little monsters" has become an exclusively PG-Tips tea drinker.

DJ Lady Starlight, who is currently touring with Lady Gaga, confirmed to media outlets that PG Tips tea is one of the singer's requests for her backstage area at concerts and shows — hence why she always has a tea cup in her hand. "It's the best black tea and she makes sure it's on the list, wherever we play," she said. (PG Tips is obviously super happy with the non-called-for endorsement.) And while on tour, Gaga has banned alcohol from dressing rooms (but ordered in vegetarian hot dogs and roast chicken).

Lady Gaga's tea-drinking habit has inspired not just a Facebook page dedicated to her tea cups, but also an awe-inspiring graphic design project: "Gaga Tea." Created by graphic design student Natalie Hallman, who was applying to schools in Stockholm, the Gaga Tea Box includes 10 varieties of tea, each with its own caricature of Lady Gaga's many personas. (We personally like the Meat Maniac, Diet Coke Dar(jee)ling, and Double Bubble blends.) Said Hallman on her Tumblr, "There are 10 unique tea bags to suit every little monster’s taste buds.” Watch out, Hallman: there will be some little monsters banging down your door to get their own Gaga Tea Box.

Lady Gaga’s Tour Drink of Choice? Neuro Trim

Lady Gaga has reportedly ordered crate loads of Neuro Trim, says the Mirror UK. Apparently, the over-the-top pop star had been using the stuff to curb her appetite during her international “Monsters Ball” tour.

Neuro Trim is a low-calorie diet supplement that contains green tea extracts and resveratrol, which supposedly has anti-aging properties. The makers of Neuro Trim claim that fiber from the Japanese konjac root swells to 200 times its size temporarily, causing the body to feel full. The drink also contains caffeine, for a short-term energy boost.

The drink has gained quite a celebrity following. Kelly Osbourne, Kate Hudson, and Cindy Crawford have all been spotted toting a bottle of Neuro Trim. However much stars like Lady Gaga lend creditability to the supplement, there is still little data supporting its marketing claims. We know Lady Gaga is dedicated to working out and also follows the 5-Factor Fitness program to stay in awesome shape.

Step 1

Dissolve matcha in hot water. Let chill for 1 hour.

#SpoonTip: For a smoother mixture, blend matcha and water until no matcha granules remain.

Step 2

Combine ice water, lemon juice, cane sugar, and matcha tea mixture in a large pitcher.

#SpoonTip: To get the most juice out of your lemons, microwave them for 10-30 seconds, depending on their size.

This recipe can also be adapted to make matcha limeade— simply substitute lemon juice for lime juice! No matter how you choose to drink it, this matcha goodness is sure to help you beat that afternoon slump.

Starbucks Just Dropped a Line of Rainbow Drinks For An Amazing Cause

a thing, too. The coffee chain has partnered with Lady Gaga to create Cups of Kindness, a line of four colorful drinks that support the singers Born This Way Foundation. Colorful and magical drinks for a good cause? Yes yes yes.

Beginning on June 13, Starbucks will donate 25 cents of each purchase from the collection to the foundation. The Cups of Kindness beverages includes the Pink Drink, Ombré Pink Drink, and two new colorful drinks: Matcha Lemonade and the Violet Drink.

The new Matcha Tea Lemonade &mdash which Lady Gaga said "I instantly fell in love with" &mdashis matcha green tea and lemonade that's shaken with ice.

The new Violet Drink, which resembles the secret Purple Drink, is made with Very Berry Hibiscus Refreshers and coconut milk.

The Born This Way Foundation raises funds that go towards programs that support youth wellness by improving mental health resources and creating more positive environments. "We're healthier and happier when we live our lives with compassion and our communities are stronger when we treat one another with generosity and respect," said Lady Gaga in a press release.

While the Cups of Kindness campaign only runs until June 19, the Matcha Tea Lemonade and Violet Drink will be on the menu permanently.

Here&rsquos What Lady Gaga Eats In A Day, According To Her Personal Chef

What is it like living la vida Gaga? Fans know Lady Gaga has a lot on her plate, acting, singing, and much more. What they may not know is she also has a lot of healthy foods on her literal plate for breakfast, lunch, and dinner to fuel her busy life.

The "Shallow" singer's personal chef and lifelong friend Bo O'Connor knows all about Gaga and what goes into her diet. They grew up together, both pursuing their passions. "She&rsquos always been into the arts, and I&rsquove always been into food, so we did both things together," O'Connor told The New Potato. "In high school, I&rsquod have dinner parties at my apartment and I&rsquod cook a bunch of different things and make a mess of my parent&rsquos kitchen and she would always be involved."

O'Conner says that Gaga is pretty healthy on tour, which is essential to help fuel successful performances. "She usually puts on an intense show, so she can't be eating Doritos, clearly," O'Connor told The Feast. Exactly what she whipped up for Gaga, who btw is an "adventurous eater," varied from country to country and what ingredients were available. "But in general she tried to stay away from anything that was super processed or made with white flour," O'Connor says, noting the singer opted for whole-wheat and whole-grain products, instead.

With a kitchen assist from O'Connor, here's what the Lady Gaga eats in a day:

Breakfast

The Mother Monster gets off to a healthy start first thing in the morning. "It would usually involve some type of eggs or egg whites, definitely vegetables, a lot of vegetables, and sometimes Greek yogurt or different types of fruit, or healthy granola," O'Connor told The Feast.

"If [Gaga] was in the mood for French toast or something sweeter, we would make a healthier version of that for her." Think: whole-wheat bread instead of white. This is an example of what O'Conner calls a "half-cheat meal," or a slightly more nutritious version of a traditionally not-so-healthy dish.

Lady Gaga Helped Starbucks Come Up With Two New Rainbow Drinks

Lady Gaga's just announced a collaboration with one very unlikely partner. This icon doesn't have any platinum records or hit singles, but it may be even more famous than the star herself: Starbucks. "The Cure" singer partnered with the coffee chain on a weeklong "Cups of Kindness" promotion &mdash and she's helping launch two new colorful drinks you can snag starting tomorrow.

Gaga hand-picked both drinks. First, a Violet Drink to rival the Instagram-worthy Pink and Ombre Pink Drinks. It combines Very Berry Hibiscus Refreshers with coconut milk, turning the whole drink a pale purple.

The second iced drink's even more vibrant &mdash and is the one Gaga says she "instantly fell in love with" the moment she tried it. It's a Matcha Lemonade, which is like a green tea twist on an Arnold Palmer. Starbucks combines ground matcha green tea with &mdash you guessed it &mdash lemonade, turning the whole drink a kelly green-ish color.

Both drinks have been added to the permanent menu, but there's an added bonus to ordering them &mdash or the other new menu additions, the Pink Drink and Ombre Pink Drink &mdash between Tuesday, June 13, and Monday, June 19. For every cup sold, Starbucks will donate 25 cents to Gaga's Born This Way Foundation. The organization helps provide mental health resources and create empowering environments for kids, so they can rise about bullies and insecurities, according to its website.

Specifically, donations will help the foundation's new Kindness Channel, where people 16 to 24 years old report and write stories about acts of generosity and compassion where they live, as well as other initiatives. How much the weeklong program raises depends on how many cups are sold, though Starbucks announced in its official press release that it's committed to donating at least $250,000.

The Poker Face

This drink, like the phrase it’s named for, has been around for much longer than the Lady Gaga hit – though we won’t blame you if you start singing it while you make these drinks. It’s a classic drink served in just about every casino around the world. It’s also really light and refreshing, so if it’s a warm day then this cocktail and lots of ice will be ideal.

For the cocktail, combine 2 shots of tequila, 3 shots of pineapple juice, 1 shot of triple sec and a twist of lemon. Stir together with ice and strain into a tall glass. You can garnish this cocktail with fruit and mini umbrellas for that really tacky, casino feel.

You may not know it but Casinos and Alcohol have a rich history, though most casino and bingo sites have a duty to advise their players not to drink. If you’d like to gamble online during your party, just make sure you do so responsibly!

Great Gatsby? Great Drinksby! Top 10 Roaring ✠s Cocktails

Warner Bros

It was the age of jazz, flappers, gangsters and Prohibition—as well as the setting for F. Scott Fitzgerald's acclaimed novel The Great Gatsby. With Baz Luhrmann's intoxicating adaptation now in theaters, you'll want to host your own lavish, Gatsby-inspired soiree, so we've mixed up 10 Roaring ✠s cocktails to help you party in speakeasy style.

Best of all, since Prohibition ended 80 years ago, you won't need bootleg hooch or bathtub gin to make any of these drinks.

No matter how you shake or stir ɾm, you're sure to be the cat's pajamas!

GIN RICKEY
In Luhrmann's 3-D spectacular, Tobey Maguire stars as Nick Carraway, the Fitzgerald-like author and narrator of the liquor-soaked love story. Fitzgerald's drink of choice was gin, so it's only fitting that we toast the heavy-drinking novelist with a light, delicious Rickey—a mixture of gin and limejuice with a splash of club soda.

LONG ISLAND ICED TEA
Enigmatic Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio) lives in a nouveau-riche section of Long Island, NY, which makes the popular Long Island Iced Tea an apropos choice. Unfortunately, the history of this potent concoction (five different spirits!) is as clear as the added cola—some trace its origins to the 1920s while others say the 1970s. Regardless, the LIIT is no more anachronistic than Jay-Z's Gatsby soundtrack!

MINT JULEP
Carey Mulligan stars as Gatsby's true love, beautiful socialite Daisy Buchanan, who's unhappily married to Tom Buchanan (Joel Edgerton). In the novel, she comes to blows with Tom and Gatsby while drinking mint juleps. A native of Louisville, Daisy would surely make her julep with real Kentucky bourbon—and you can too. Just add ice, simple syrup, and mint, and you're ready to sip and enjoy The Great Gatsby or the Kentucky Derby!

MANHATTAN
Daisy's hubby, Tom, keeps an apartment in Manhattan for his married mistress, Myrtle Wilson (Isla Fisher). Though not as old as adultery, the Manhattan cocktail does date back to the 1870s. The original was made with American Rye Whiskey (plus sweet vermouth and bitters), but during Prohibition, Canadian Whiskey was primarily used since it was more available. Canadian hooch still works, eh?

PLANTER'S PUNCH
Rum became popular during Prohibition as "rumrunners" smuggled it into the U.S. from Mexico and the Caribbean. To make this Jazz Age bevvy, you only need to run to the liquor store for dark rum, which you mix with fruit juices and top with grenadine. The colorful cocktail not only packs a punch—it's also a great way to cool down at summer soirees.

FRENCH 75
Made from gin, champagne, lemon juice and sugar, the French 75 was named after a small, powerful gun used during World War I. This hard-hitting refresher is the perfect libation for Jordan Baker (Elizabeth Debicki), a friend of Daisy's and a well-known competitive golfer. We can just imagine Jordan downing a French 75 after heating up the dance floor or scoring a hole-in-one.

SCOFFLAW
During Prohibition, people who defied the law banning booze—the 18th Amendment, to be exact—were called "scofflaws." Which pretty much describes all the partygoers at Gatsby's mansion! You too can scoff as you quaff the cocktail named after them, a combo of rye and dry vermouth with lemon juice and grenadine.

TUXEDO #2
Dress up any affair—black tie or not—with a formally named drink that originated in the late 1800s and reappeared during the roaring drunk ✠s. A chic spin on the classic martini, the Tuxedo #2 combines gin and vermouth with bitters, maraschino liqueur and a touch of "the green fairy," absinthe. So dapper!

BEE'S KNEES
"The bee's knees" is flapper-speak for the most awesomest thing ever, which accurately describes this buzzy mix of gin, lemon juice and a spoonful of honey. During Prohibition, citrus and honey helped take the edge (and pungent smell) off the illegal rotgut. Nowadays, we have many quality spirits to choose from, and that's the bee's knees!

CHAMPAGNE COCKTAIL
Everyone's fizzy favorite, champagne, adds glitz and glamour to any get-together. So pop a cork and let the bubbly flow as you stir in a sugar cube and bitters, then garnish with a lemon slice. The sparkling Champagne Cocktail is lovely and sophisticated, which is how—Luhrmann's excess and razzamatazz aside—weɽ like to remember Daisy and Gatsby.

Lady Gaga's Drink of Choice: Tea - Recipes

You don't have to be an A-lister to drink like one. While there are some obvious choices when you think of drinks of the rich and famous (shaken martini for those James Bonds fans) and everyone knows a single-malt scotch is a go-to choice for those with distinguished tastes, you might be surprised by the reality of how, what (and sometimes where) celebrities drink. For example, 007 might be famous for getting his martini shaken but not stirred, but shaking gin (the only liquor for any real martini lovers, not vodka) actually bruises it. Many say martinis should always be stirred.

Here are 20 favorite drinks for the wealthy and famous among entrepreneurs and celebrities. Try one out the next time you hit the bars.

1. Gin and Dubbonet

Specifically, served with a slice of lemon, two ice cubes and every last pip taken out. This is the favorite cocktail of Queen Elizabeth II, so it's truly a drink for royalty. She revealed this in a documentary, touting the delectable taste of a sweet aperitif--sending orders of the drink in the UK soaring.

2. Sappro beer

Like many westerners, Simon Cowell has an abundance of food sensitivities, and claims Sappro beer (which is yeast-free) is one of the few he can enjoy. That's good news for anyone in a similar situation who doesn't want to reach for the hard stuff when their leanings are strictly beer-based.

3. Jack on the Rocks

How does he afford that rock 'n' roll lifestyle? According to Sting, even though he's light years away from his young, carefree rocker days, one staple lingers: Jack on the rocks. It remains one of the most badass drinks today.

4. Bourbon Sour

Whether it's whiskey, scotch or bourbon, this amber-hued liquor family attracts plenty of bad boys. Johnny Depp lists this as his favorite drink, even though his bad boy image is mostly a fond memory of middle aged women (and men) these days.

5. Margarita

She might not strike you as the "what stays in Mexico" type, but Jennifer Aniston has happily declared that's her favorite cocktail. A little sweet, a little sour and with plenty of kick.

6. Armand de Brignac Champagne

Jay-Z clearly has flawless taste, so it's no surprise that he's listed this as his favorite way to imbibe. As for Bey, she's also gone on record saying she adores the drink--but like Aniston also has a penchant for margaritas.

7. Gin and Tonic

Contrary to popular belief, "Butterbeer" isn't JK Rowling's signature drink. She prefers her cocktails traditional, sticking with a G+T when the pub calls.

8. White Russian

Kim Kardashian says she rarely drinks much, but when she is craving a cocktail she's known to enjoy a White Russian. Unlike her party-centric sister Khloe, most of Kim's public outings don't involve much alcohol these days.

9. Strawberry Daiquiri

Steven Tyler's daughter Liv prefers a strawberry daiquiri when the mood strikes. The heart wants what the heart wants, as do the taste buds.

10. Lemon Drop Martini (or sometimes pomegranate)

Bartenders have made all kinds of changes to cocktails over the years. Oprah is a fan of martinis that are a little sweeter, citing lemon drops or pomegranate martinis as her most palatable options.

11. Absinthe

Both Oscar Wilde and Pablo Picasso listed absinthe as their absolute favorite drink. Still illegal (or at least tough to get) in many parts of the US, it's best served with a cube of sugar. The green glowing alcohol is known as a very mild hallucinogen.

12. Champagne

Though she never stated which brand, "champagne" helped Marilyn Monroe be even more bubbly. Is it any surprise the sexiest drink was enjoyed by the biggest bombshell in history?

Better known as Johnny Depp's other half for several years, Vanessa Paradis might have been the envy of every woman for years--but she was also a bartender's worst nightmare. Mojitos are notoriously consuming to make and listed by barkeeps as their most hated drink.

14. Long Island Iced Tea

These drinks are also notorious in the world of bartending, because when they're ordered bartenders say they know the customer is on a mission to get "turned up." Writer Carson McCullers said they were a favorite of his, even though they were originally invented by Long Island housewives who wanted to numb their suburban boredom as quickly as possible.

15. Mint Julep

Adored by William Faulkner, many wannabe writers today mimic the great by ordering his signature cocktail. It's refreshing, it's served in a charming tin glass, and it's nowhere near as demanding as its kissing cousin the mojito.

16. Hangman's Blood

Made with gin, whiskey, rum, port, champagne, brandy and stout, it's like the drinking man's Long Island Iced Tea. Preferred by writer Anthony Burgess, he perpetuates the stereotype of the writer as lush.

You'd need a drink this strong, too, if you had so many kids and a demanding career. Angelina Jolie might have her own line of wines with Brad, but she's a tequila girl at heart.

18. Pomegranate Martini

What does one powerhouse (Oprah) have in common with another? A specific martini. Madonna claims she loves these, and it's no surprise as the chameleon pop queen likes to keep things interesting.

19. Screwdriver

When you want to sneak a drink at breakfast, nothing beats a screwdriver--just ask Truman Capote. He called it "my orange drink" just like moms today call wine their "grown up juice." Garnish it with orange slices, and at least you're getting your vitamin C fix as well as some hair of the dog.

20. Highball

Whiskey and water are a perfect match, kind of like Winston Churchill and politics. He'd even have it for breakfast.

Alcohol has been soothing us, inspiring us, and yes, giving our livers a lot of work to do for thousands of years. There will always be some recipes that rise to the top like that lime in your vodka soda. Remember, you don't have to be a celebrity to party like one. Mozel Tov!
