What Wine to Drink at Sheraton Hotels

What Wine to Drink at Sheraton Hotels

Thanks to a upgraded menu and Wine Spectator-approved wines, hotel drinks are getting classy

Grabbing a drink at the hotel bar just got more fun at Sheraton Hotels. A new program at the Starwood-brand hotel chain not only lets you sip grade-A wines, but also invites you to try some new wineries.

The partnership between Sheraton Hotels and wine authority Wine Spectator ensure that the new wine menu, Sheraton Selects, only serves wine rated at least 85+ by the magazine. (In Wine Spectator language, an 85-rated wine means "very good: a wine with special qualities" and ratings go up to "outstanding" for wines rated 90-94, and "classic" for wines rated 95-100.) Four of the rotating eight wines will be rated 90+.

Plus, the new program also includes wine tastings in the Sheraton "social hour," where guests can try two 90+ rated wines in the hotel bar and lobby.

The burning question: Where will these highly rated wines come from? Washington state's Chateau Ste. Michelle (its 2008 Columbia Valley Chardonnay is rated at 90 points), Napa Valley's Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars (another 2008 chardonnay, Karia, is rated at 92 points), Northstar, Eroica, and Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte.

The program will be rolled out in 240 Sheraton hotels, both in North America and globally; next week, look for the program in Chicago, Boston, and Los Angeles hotels. Later in the year, the program will be in Seattle, New York, Madrid, and Toronto hotels.
