Many of Japan's airports are equipped with Bottle Liquid Checker machines.

The next time you want to bring a drink on a plane, perhaps you should fly from an airport in Japan. Some 300 bottle scanners, called "Bottle Liquid Checker" machines, are in use at airports across Japan, according to Forbes.com.

When going through security, passengers place their cans and bottles on the scanner, which has a small light that illuminates and indicates the drink is good to go, according to Forbes.com. The machines, designed by Ebistrade, are used for domestic flights only. Passengers on international flights from Japan must still surrender their liquids at security.
